Drivers - we need you!

Over the lockdown period, thanks to our amazing team of Love Southampton volunteer drivers, we’ve been able to make vital deliveries right across our city - individual food packages, medication & co-ordinated deliveries of donations to and from key distribution hubs like Big Breakfast, Basics Banks, St Mary’s Church & Lighthouse International Church. We’re so grateful for everyone who has given their time to make these deliveries.

Here’s what one volunteer had to say about their time on the team: “Im part of the volunteer driver team, shopping for folks and making deliveries across the city. For me, I’ve been furloughed from my regular work, so Covid has really enabled me to contribute in this practical way and its been an absolute joy to be part of the team and see how God has been working through everyone across the city to help those in need.”

Drivers are core to so much of what we do at Love Southampton, and our need for them is increasing. As the lockdown eases and furlough schemes come to an end, some of our volunteers are returning to work. We’re keen to keep serving the city, with food banks and delivery services continuing to run - but for that to happen, we need drivers.

So, could you help?

Do you have a heart to serve the city in a practical way? Do you have availability in your week to make even one key delivery?

We’re asking specifically for:

  • Drivers to collect and deliver medication

  • Drivers to collect donations from local business and take to food distribution hubs

  • Drivers to purchase shopping and deliver

  • Drivers to collect packages from food hubs and deliver

We’d love for you to join our team, and get stuck in serving our city. There’s a real need, and we believe that together we can meet it.

To sign up, or to find out more, please use the “I can help” button at the bottom of this page, or on our homepage at www.lovesouthampton.org.uk. Please note that to be a part of the drivers team you will need car insurance that enables volunteering.

Thanks so much - we can’t wait to hear from you!
