Although the past few months has had its challenges in supporting older and more vulnerable people, we’re proud to share the work that Caraway has achieved throughout lockdown, as well as their plans going forward. Here’s what they had to say:
Drivers - we need you!
Drivers are core to so much of what we do at Love Southampton, and our need for them is increasing. As the lockdown eases and furlough schemes come to an end, some of our volunteers are returning to work. We’re keen to keep serving the city, with food banks and delivery services continuing to run - but for that to happen, we need drivers.
Communicare launches urgent appeal for volunteer drivers
Communicare, a Southampton charity partnered with us at Love Southampton tackling loneliness and isolation in the city, has this month (August 2020) launched an appeal for volunteer drivers to come forward to take vulnerable people to urgent medical appointments.

A SOUTHAMPTON charity, partnered with us at Love Southampton, working towards eradicating loneliness and isolation in the city says it desperately needs more volunteer telephone befrienders to help its service users (July 2020).
Southampton debt services come together to support the city…
Across the city with the help of Love Southampton, debt services including Public Health, Welfare Rights, Citizen's Advice Bureau, No Limits, CAP (Christians Against Poverty) & Frontline Debt Advice Service have joined together to strategically meet the rising need.
Big Breakfast adapts to meet the needs of the city…
Until Covid-19, Big Breakfast has been a weekly free breakfast hosted at Above Bar Church, right in the city centre. It's for anyone in need – homeless people, those on benefits, lonely people and more. Most weeks about 80-85 of us would share a meal together.

My name is Sinem. I come from Turkey. I came to Southampton three years ago with my husband and my two children. My son is 19 & my daughter is 14 now. Like everyone, Lockdown is not easy for us.
